Oh Yes You Can! Clean Green Easily!
Hello Everyone,
I like to promote and recommend green products and services for obvious reasons. Although traditional cleaning products have served us
well in the past, newer, more technologically advanced, what we call "certified green" products offer a safer alternative. Many of these green products are
just as effective and cost comparative to traditional products. If certified, they are proven to reduce cleanings impact on the health of people,
cleaning professionals and building occupants, and the environment.
First of all,
it's a fact that we are exposed daily to an incredible array of
toxins in our normal lives. Toxins have a "toxicity" that can be determined in a variety of ways. With an interest in a sparkling house
you need to know a little bit about toxicity to protect yourself, your family and anyone else whose house you clean.
Second,
you can respond and there is a lot you can do. Start by limiting the exposure
of the people around you to harsh cleaning chemicals. Happily for you and your house there are plenty of effective, earth-safe cleaners that you
can buy or make.
Natural Cleaning Products
Borax mixed with lemon juice will take out toilet-bowl stains. White vinegar is useful for disinfecting bathrooms and kitchens. Bon Ami, a
borax-based powder cleanser sold in supermarkets and hardware stores for more than 50 years, safely cleans pots, pans, sinks, oven
interiors along with other corroded surfaces.
Quantities Matter
Its better to use up existing cleaners instead of throwing them in the garbage. When buying "green," look for products that are labeled either biodegradable or
nontoxic. Buy only what you need or a multi-purpose cleaner. We use and recommend Simple Green All Purpose Cleaner.
Sprays
We use spray bottle products for all our cleaning. You can either fill your own bottles from floor mixes or
by them premixed. Avoid aerosol sprays.
Third, not all "green" products are created equal. Read the labels. Know your products.
Catch the ones that have been prettied up with essential oils. Check labels for irritating chemicals such as chlorine, ammonia and artificial fragrances
and dyes.
