Cleaning Tips For Miniblinds
Many of us prefer minimblinds to draperies for our windows. While they have a unique beauty and look to them they can be a challenge to clean and keep clean. Here's our quick ideas for you to use.
Mini Blind Regular Cleaning Tip
Here's how to keep those blinds clean on a regualr cleaning basis. Do this once a month. Slip your hands into a pair of old socks or old gloves for cleaning the miniblinds. Dip one hand into a bucket of warm, soapy water and hold the blinds between your two hands. Rub back and forth until you've cleaned the whole surface. Then reverse sides so the dry sock dries the blinds. If your blinds are larger slat wood blinds the sock works well, too, but instead of water use a liquid spray dusting agent to clean. Once the dust and dirt are off the blinds a biweekly dusting of all types of mini blinds can be easily done. Wipe miniblinds with damp fabric softener sheet to eliminate light dust and static that collects dust. The same trick works for your T.V. screen! Miniblind Spring Cleaning Tips
At this time of year a more thorough task of cleaning is needed. Take each blind down and take it outside. Lay it on an old blanket or rug preferably on a slanted area of the yard. Let the blind out all the way and make sure all the louvers are flat. Mix up a bucket of all-purpose cleaner or ammonia solution. Scrub with a soft brush then turn it over to do the back side. By now the blanket is wet and is helping to clean the blind and protecting it. Hang the blind on a clothesline and hose it off. Gentle shaking will help it begin to drip dry. For larger slat wood blinds you'll still need to take them down and outside. Lay them down on a blanket with the slats flat. Use a floor duster sprayed with liquid cleaner and clean them off. When dust free, clean them with a good wood protectant formula and rehang. Regular cleaning of the blinds can minimize your spring cleaning chores. there is nothing like clean blinds on a crystal clear window!
